Brief Itinerary
Welcome to the Highlands of Guatemala! Upon arriving at the international airport of Guatemala City you will be transferred to Lake Atitlan, renowned for its natural beauty. Our private car ride from the airport takes around 3 hour and 30 minutes to Panajachel, Lake Atitlan. Lake Atitlan is one of the four main lakes in Guatemala. Lake Atitlan is grand yet peaceful and quiet, surrounded by forests, ancient Mayan Villages and three imponent volcanoes, Toliman, Atitlan and Volcano San Pedro. The lake is popular with travelers from around the world and has attracted numerous celebrities who own villas along its shores, including Francis Ford Coppola and others.
Enjoy your breakfast, then meet your guide at your hotel lobby and head out for a full day exploring Lake Lake Atitlan’s most traditional Mayan Villages. See local weavers weaving on the street, colorful homes with local designs. Santa Catarina & San Antonio Palopo are two spectacular villages and well known for their weavers and ceramic. On the tour you will stop at several view points to enjoy the magnificent views of Lake Atitlan. In the afternoon, you will stop at a local ceramic place for a nice 45 minutes workshop, place where you choose and paint your own piece of ceramic and take it home with you. After the tour you get dropped off at your hotel and enjoy a well-deserved drink, read a book or simply enjoy the sunset from your hotel room.
Your day start by taking the kayaks to paddle through Santa Cruz la Laguna, where you pass by the local Kaqchikel Maya people working in the fields, washing clothes and fishing from their unique wooden boats. After about an 1hr and 30minutes you will stop kayaking and enjoy a one hour hike up and across patchwork agricultural fields for wonderful views of the lake and its surrounding volcanoes. Your trip ends in San Juan La Laguna, after a cultural walking tour of the village you return to your hotel. Please note that this is a fairly requires some physical day trip so you do need a good level of fitness to participate.
Enjoy a day in the mountains of Lake Atitlan! Stretch your legs in la Laguna Seca, a village situated 30 min away from Panajachel. During this day you will depart from your hotel by 9am. On local transport, an authentic adventure on the back of a pick-up truck until our easy hike point starts. The hike its very easy, with stunning views, surrounded by nature. At the end of the hike you will reach at a look out called el Pico de Cielo, place where our picnic lunch will be served. (meal, drink, cutlery, serviette) after lunch, return to your hotel around 2 or 3pm.
