El Cerro de Oro, it’s a great half day hiking tour 2hrs up and 30 minutes down, hike into coffee and avocado plantation. Moderate hike.

This is one of the newest hikes in Lake Atitlan! The Cerro de Oro mountain is also known as el El Elefante “The Elephant” Based at the small village of Cerro de Oro. In the ancient time this was a ceremonial center for Mayan Shamans, at the summit you can still appreciate some ceremonial altars. From the beginning the hike is moderate and gradually turns a bit steep for about 30 minutes. At the summit you will enjoy the views of Volcan Toliman, Atitlan and the caldera lake. This hike is recommended for families and friends for a perfect morning hike.
