"Volcano Hike"

They treated me like an old friend, they are experts, competent and very oriented about their culture and their country, one of the best hikes I have ever done and they made the diffrence. It was a 5.5 hour hike and they made sure I was ok the whole time! A most!!

"Great Hike from Santa Cruz to Tzununá"

We arrived in Santa Cruz for our hike but were hoping to find a guide that will lead us. On the way up hill we entered their office on the right side.
Within 5 minutes Pedro offered us the tour and his brother Domingo accompanied us. On our way (which would have been too hard to find on our own) he explained many things about the local plants etc. At all time we felt safe and comfortable.
We ended the tour at the club "ven aqua" that have a pool and hot tube with stunning views to the lake.
Absolutely recommended company to do hikes in the region!

"Tours Atitlan - Lake Atitlan & Antigua, Guatemala"

This was a once in a lifetime experience thanks to Pedro Juan and his team of Tours Atitlan.
Pedro Juan knew exactly how to handle our family of 3 generations! Every visit was carefully and thoughtfully planned. From our visit to Antigua to Tikal and to our visits to the most beautiful and authentic villages sorrounding Lake Atitlan. Pedro provided insightful history of the Mayan people and their culture, from centuries ago to the present day.

We were impressed with Pedro Juan's knowledge, sense of humor, professionalism and terrific patience. He coaxed my mother (age 78), to hike for 3 hours and he literally held her hand through out the most challenging climbs.

Gustavo, who is a member of Tours Atitlan, accompanied us to Chichicastenango, for a day of shopping and exploring...we could not have had a better guide! Gustavo let us roam around the market for over 4 hours and he NEVER left our side...he even negotiated with the locals on our behalf!! On top of it all, Gustavo helped us carry our many packages back to his air-conditioned, perfectly clean mini-van.

The highlight of our trip was a visit to a school in Santa Cruz and a private visit to family's home in Santa Caterina. We will never forget the smiles of the children in the school and the warmth and hospitality of the family we visited.

Every single detail was perfectly executed every step of the way.

This was not just another trip, this was a LIFETIME experience.
THANK YOU Pedro Juan, you make your country proud!
came Our family got to see and experience first hand how the people of Guatemala live.

"Isaias was amazing! my girlfriend and I got to spend two gloriuos days with him and we could not have asked for more!"

We have never been to Guatemala, but after two days with Isaias it was as if we were natives. Isaias took us to the volcano San Pedro and though we were a bit slow, he was very patient and a whole lot of fun. He also took us to San Juan and was the best guide we could have asked for. I think Isaias is the best tour guide I have ever had and you know what, he became a real friend. I cannot wait to go back to Guatemala and hang out with my new friend.

For all of you looking for a great tour of Atitlan, I strongly recommend Tours Atitlan!

"A great Family Trip"

We visited Guatemala with our two grandchildren, ages 9 and 13. Fortunately we had found Tours Adventure Atitlan, with its outstanding owner, Pedro Juan Solis, to arrange and supervise our tour. With private transportation and quality accommodations from Antigua though the Lake and to Tikal, we were extremely happy with the outcome. All of our local guides were very knowledgeable with a great concern for their Mayan culture and their heritage. Josue at Lost Torrales is an exceptional naturalist guiding us through the flora and the bird-watching as well as the coffee growing and preparation process. David at Tikal made the ancient city come to life for us. Pedro himself guided us through the balance including a stimulating two day visit with his family on the Lake, giving us an unusual opportunity to experience daily family life in Guatemala. Did I say, “The children and grandma reveled on the canopy zip-line!”
All in all it was a great experience, introducing us to a lovely country, its history, heritage, and people, and helping us learn more about our grandchildren and ourselves.

"Lake Atitlan Tours"

If you spend more than a day or two on Lake Atitlan, you should consider visiting some of the lakeside villages other than the one you are staying at - especially if your home base is Panajachel. Pana has more accomodations, restautants, clubs and activities than anyplace else on the Lake and as such is its most "touristed" area.

A day trip to several of the nearby towns gives you a much better insight into the daily lives and culture of the lakeside Mayan communities. It also includes a boat trip across the lake and along the frequently interesting shore line.

Our group of 16 took such a tour with Pedro Solis ( Pedro and his brother were our Guides and did a great job of informing and explaining. We saw different places and things and thoroughly enjoyed the trip which takes about 6 hours - usually 10 AM to 4 or 5 PM. Pedro will tell all about the villages you are visiting and the Lake in general as well as answer any questions. You will be very well informed.

The trip was well planned, well organized and well executed. Pedro is professional in every way and can give you an itinerary that best suits any special interest you might have,. The price is a little high for Guatemala but does include the costly boat rental. It is a day well spent.

"A must if you are on Lake Atitlan"

I had a fantastic hike with Pedro and Isarias. While extremely challenging, the hike provided beautiful views and a great sense of accomplishment. Pedro and Isarias are unbelievably knowledgeable about their surroundings. During the hike, they will point out interesting plants, views, and regale you with tidbits and trivia about the Guatemalan people and their history. It certainly makes the climb pass more quickly!

Also, enough cannot be said about their patience with our group's slow pace. I cannot recommend the hike highly enough!

"You must take this hike"

I went on the hike of Pico de Cielo with Pedro and Isarias a few weeks ago and it will be an experience I will never forget! While the hike up the volcano was vigorous and challenging, it was made all the better with the help and guidance of these two men. Each were very knowledgable about the history, culture, and vegetation of the area around Lake Atitlan which helped to enhance the experience. I loved this tour and I can't wait to go back to do it again!

"A fantastic true Gem"

Pedro and his talented staff provided a lifetime of memories for me and my family during our one-week trip to Guatemala. The most important thing about this team is their depth of breadth and knowledge that only a local can provide. The team has perfect English and can provide entrée into local homes, which is normally inaccessible to tourists. These are experiences you will never forget, experiences that bring you closer to understanding what life is truly like for the Mayans. While the lake holds its own natural beauty, you simply cannot missing getting to understanding its indigenous cultures. These two things combined make it one of the most special places in the world.

"Wonderful Hike"

Pedro and Domingo were our wonderful guides as six women over age 50 attempted to climb up the side of one of the smaller volcanoes that surrounds Lake Atitlan. They were patient, knowledgeable and very polite. Pedro pointed out different species of birds indigenous to the area as well as coffee and other trees and fauna. They also helped us communicate with the locals as well as see in their homes. The morning trek was vigorous but very enjoyable. We will be sure to use their services again when we next visit the area. Thanks again!

"Wonderful Adventures - knowledgaable and friendly guides"

I organized three tours with Tours Atitlan this past month and each one was wonderful. The first was a hike to Pico de Cielo for the yoga group I took to Villa Sumaya. Isaias and Domingo were awesome. They were joyful, spoke perfect English, were knowledgeable on many of the plants and animals along the way, took us into the home and kitchen of a local Mayan family. I then organized two tours for my family (wife and two children - 13 & 10) with Isaias: horseback riding around San Pedro volcano and ziplining at the Panajachel Reserve. He is a lot of fun to be around, sincerely wants you to have an amazing time, and went out of his way to help us with transportation back to Antigua and then on to Tikal. Highly recommended! When I go back, I will definitely use their excellent services again!

"Excellent Tours, Excellent People"

Pedro, Domingo and Juan Diego took me, my family and friends on several tours and adventures. I was impressed by their organization and knowledge and enjoyed their warmth and sincerity. From cultural tours to mountain bike rides to hikes - we covered it all and I wouldn't have seen the things I saw if it had not been for going on Pedro's tours. Thank you for everything that you did for us. You made our trip to Guatemala wonderful and unforgettable!! These guys are AWESOME!

"Best Trip Ever"

I have a house at the edge of Santa Cruz la Laguna, so I come to Lake Atitlán fairly often.
I came down with my two sisters in early February, and we hired Isais and Domingo to walk with us from my house to San Marcos on a tour.  It was one of the best things I\'ve done in my many trips to the lake!  Isais and Domingo were so patient, knowledgable, responsible and friendly.  My sisters and I all had a wonderful time. Isais and Domingo helped to make my sisters' first trip to Guatemala unforgettable.  Thank you all so much!

"Wonderful, funny and very informative that's Pedro"

Never have done tours, but when Pedro arrived, it changed everything! he covered every thing from culture, economics to politics and history. His brother Domingo was helpful also and he even let us meet his wife and son. By the time we left, we knew we had made friends and received an education about thiis wonderful country. Pedro's company is well run and family owned. If you need a guide for anything in the Highlands region get in touch with him. He is a must for a great experience!

" Unbelievable! Absolutely Stellar!"

Pedro is the ultimate tour guide. He not only knows Guatemala thoroughly, he is gracious, kind, and knowledgeable in every way. He has a depth of understanding of the culture, a strong desire to please, and a fun-loving attitude. We learned so much in such a warm and wonderful way. We want to take him home with us! Every guide he assigned to us was mutually enjoyable. We engaged in such a personal way.

The ruins were a wonderful way to transition from Antigua to Villa Sumaya on Lake Atitlán. They are not to be missed, especially if someone like Pedro can provide the tour, making it a meaningful, learning experience that is organized and engaging.

The climb to the top of San Pedro volcano was challenging but outstanding, well worth the trip. It was the best part of the entire trip for those who made the climb. Pedro knows every bird and his brother knows every plant. Together they are outstanding. Everyone who spends time with Pedro comes to love him. He is genuinely heartfelt while at the same time intelligent and knowing.

The tour of Antigua with Karen, arranged by Pedro, was so interesting that people did not want to stop for lunch! Karen was everything we could have hoped for and more. She has given us lasting memories to cherish as we communicate some of what we learned with others back at home. What a delightful experience! This tour company is absolutely outstanding in every way.

"Great Job "

We spent a week in Gautemala, the last three days in Lake Atitlan. We had booked three different excursions with Pedro, including a transfer from Antigua to Lake Atitlan, but I had given hime the wrong dates... off by a week. Amazingly, despite my screw up, Pedro was able to make it work. Within twenty minutes he had someone at our hotel in Antigua and met us halfway to the lake to begin our tour. Since he already had commitments the following day he left us in the hands of one of his colleagues, Humberto, who did a great job as we went to ChiChi, kayaked, did some very light hiking, and explored the villages around the lake.

I do feel that Pedro charges a premium for his services but in my experience you get what you pay for. I doubt you could find a better company to intrust your vacation time with and I would use them again... I would just make sure I gave them the right dates next time.

"Spanish and Adventure, Lago de Atitlan to the Ixil Triangle"

I started off taking Spanish lessons with Pedro of Atitlan Tours & extended it to cycling through the villages above Lake Atitlan, visiting the lakeside villages, taking a fabulous 2 day trip to the Ixil Triangle, staying at a hacienda & cheese farm & horse-riding in the surrounding hills. Being the only tourist at the local market, and seeing the beautiful traditional clothing and textiles of the villagers was a highlight. Pedro's attention to detail & knowledge of the local area was outstanding and he was great company and an excellent Spanish teacher as well! If you want an adventurous, customised, off-the-beaten-track tour then I would highly recommend contacting Pedro.

Since my wife broke her foot a couple of weeks before we left for a tour of Guatemala, we decided to make our trip more comfortable by taking private transport and a private guide for the first part of our journey. We found Pedro through Tripadvisor and believe me, we were so lucky we found him!

Pedro is a real gentleman, really taking care of his guests, and also very knowledgeable about many subjects, in the first place about breathtaking Lake Atitlan, but also about Maya culture and people, traditional Maya textiles, about the markets, about birdwatching, photography. He's teaching Spanish, learning French (his English is quite perfect)... A passionate young man, always trying to get even better. And especially passionate about trying to give you the best of what his beautiful country has to offer. This was even made clearer the day we were accompanied by another guide : also sympathetic, but what a difference! The difference between "oh well ok" and "woooooow".

Not only we had a wonderful week with him, full of jawdropping beauty, but his perfect planning also made it possible for us to experience much more than we could ever have if we would have organised everything ourselves. We visited the markets of Solola and Chichicastenango with him, and I can't imagine it would have been half as absorbing if we would have tried to find our way on our own.

And he helped us to reach the unreachable. We really were fascinated by the Ixil-triangle and the villages Nebaj, Cotzal en Chajul, northeast of Quetzaltenango, and I had spent hours trying to figure out how to include them in our itinerary, but I had to conclude we wouldn't have time to go there. Pedro not only succeeded fitting them in, but we had such wonderful and stressless two days visiting partying Solola, Fuentes Georginas, sleeping in a wonderful Hacienda near Acul, the traditional market of Chajul... Never in a hurry, always time to meet our needs or to do what seemed best at that time. I can't recommend enough the trip to Ixil with Pedro. Fantastic!

Concluding : at first sight it's not cheap for a couple to have your own driver and guide taking you around. But with Pedro it's worth every penny. Especially when you consider what you would have missed otherwise having only a couple of weeks to spend. It allows you to see much more, without stress and in a leisurely pace, and to enjoy the beauty of this really special country much more in depth. So it becomes a truly memorable experience. And what 's more : when you are 4 or more the price per person goes down dramatically, so I wouldn't hesitate to call it downright cheap!

My advice : don't miss Atitlan-Ixil Pedro style!

“Pedro is the best tour guide I've ever had”

I travel a lot - and I love to travel and feel like I'm truly learning about a new place. Pedro made this possible for me when I visited Lake Atitlan for 5 nights recently. What started out as a spanish lesson quickly morphed into something totally beyond this. Don't get me wrong - Pedro is a great spanish teacher, but he seems to be great at so many things. He loves nature and his country. He is passionate about Guatemala and helping people like me and you understand Guatemala in a way that would impossible otherwise. So, we took our spanish lessons on the road to a wonderful market in Solala, to a very interesting tour of a coffee plantation and artist studios in San Juan - he took us kayaking on the lake and went w/ us on a nature walk pointing out animals and plants along the way. Every day was new and interesting and he basically made our trip a success. Pedro has great ideas and the ability to make things all come together. He is a planner, teacher, naturalist and tour guide all rolled into one very charming and intelligent person. I'm just so impressed with him and you should let him help make your trip as special as mine was.

“One of the best tour guides in Lake Atitlan Region”

Pedro is amazing!

Touring the lake Atitlan region with Pedro was one of the highlights of our trip! Pedro is so knowledgeable, genuine, and fun. We had such a wonderful time seeing this beautiful country through his eyes. I would recommend Pedro to anyone going to Guatemala and will definitely contact him if I ever go back! Holly Greenfield

"Pedro is the best"

I just led a yoga retreat at Villa Sumaya on Lake Atitlan and hired Pedro to take our group on two tours - one day at Santiago (a village on the lake) and one day hiking up El Pico de Cielo (near Solola, another village on the lake). Being with Pedro was one of the highlights of our trip. We would not have had the same experience without him. His English is perfect, his tours are wonderfully organized (efficient and safe), and he is extremely knowledgeable about his country's history, culture, and natural environment. He has created relationships with many of the village residents and took us through private farms and homes - not your typical tourist path. Not only does he seriously know his stuff but he is so much fun to be around - great sense of humor and just a genuinely kind person. I will definitely contact him to arrange plans for my next trip to Guatemala and very highly recommend you do the same! Marisa Bonfanti

Fun day with outstanding guide

My husband and I recently took a trip to Lake Atitlan and spent a day with Pedro Juan Solis of Tours Atitlan hiking Volcan San Pedro. Pedro was friendly, knowledgeable about the plants and birds in the area, and very courteous and polite. It was worth doing the hike with Pedro and not just using the park guide that is required to go with all groups, as our park guide did not speak any English and was very much disinterested in doing the hike, so had we not had wonderful Pedro with us we would not have gotten nearly as much information and enjoyment from the hike. Definitely go with Pedro from Tours Atitlan- Adventure Center for your hike up San Pedro!

Guatemala is the perfect combination of adventure, culture and nature!

We just got back from a fantastic trip in Guatemala- the highlight was hikingbiking and kayaking in/around Lake Atitlan with Pedro Solis as our guide. He was the best guide we've ever had, so knowledgeable and friendly, and professional. He really listened to us and responded to our needs, when we wanted more "challenge" he upped the pace, when we wanted "adventure" he took us off the beaten track, when we were content to lolly-gag, he slowed down and taught us about the traditions, culture and nature of the area (he is an avid bird-watcher too). What we really appreciated about him was his work ethic and sense of responsibility to others, including us, his community, and the environment. We had so much fun we want to go back and explore more! We've traveled a lot around the world, but we were so impressed by how much Guatemala has to offer and how genuinely friendly the people were. I will definitely use Tours Atitlan to organize/guide my next trip! Robin Mason

Great birdwatching

We had a wonderful time birdwatching with Pedro Solis. We went all around the village of Santa Cruz and saw about 30 different species. Pedro knows where the birds are and identifies them well. He is also a great source of information about the village and about Guatemala in general. He speaks excellent English and has a warm and enhusiastic personality.

Amazing tour!!!

Pedro is a wonderful guide. He does his best to tailor a tour that fits your interest and makes sure not to miss a single opportunity to tell you about the people, the place, the food, and the sights you experience along the way. He was extremely personable and really became more of a friend than a guide. Anything you want to do, Pedro can organize it for you.

Thank you Pedro!

Hiking the lower Mayan Trail

We just returned from Lake Atitlan. Pedro was our guide on this wonderful hike. There had been a tremendous amount of rain, therefore the trail was very muddy & the streams were more like small rivers making this hike much more difficult. Pedro not only led us very safely but told us many stories about the area. My husband wanted to practice his Spanish & Pedro very easily switched from Spanish to English as needed. He also speaks French. You can't go wrong using his services for any activity around the lake especially hiking.

Hiking the Volcano: San Pedro: Lake Atitlan

Hiking the Volcano is a must on your visit to Lake Atitlan. Our guide, Pedro Solis, was absolutely amazing! He is an enthusiastic guide.
Safety for the group was paramount and his language skills and knowledge of Guatemala is impressive. We had a remarkable day thanks to Pedro!

Great experience with Pedro and his school!

I was recently in Panajachel, Guatemala. I took two days of Spanish lessons with Pedro, who did more than improve my Spanish! He makes sure that you get to know the culture and the people as well as the language. We went to the nearby Nature Preserve and then to a village overlooking Lake Atitlan. All along the way, we worked on my Spanish and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. I have been to Panajachel a number of times, yet Pedro showed me things that I had not seen before. Pedro is a great teacher and person to be with. He works hard to make the most of your time with him. I would heartily recommend Pedro and his school for anyone wanting to learn not only Spanish but more of the remarkable people and places where it is spoken.

Exciting tour with interessting informations about the area and the nature"

After my first tour with Pedro from Santa Cruz to San Marcos i decided to make a second tour the day after because it was a unique experience with him. He knows so much about the area, the flowers, the animals... and he improved my spanish as well! Unforgetable was the breakfast at the top of the mountain!
